  • I was brought in to head up OZY’s nascent branded content studio, and within 18 months increased annual revenue by 4X. 

  • I managed a large roster of high-budget campaigns (up to
    $2 million), and oversaw budgets in the hundreds of thousands. 

  • I built a roster of writers, editors, video and podcast producers and graphic designers to create compelling, award-winning content across a range of platforms for brands, ranging from short-term campaigns to multi-year projects. I also managed production budgets for all branded campaigns.

  • I oversaw newsletter campaigns, produced podcasts, digital video and Facebook Watch Series, as well as interactive content.

  • I provided bespoke services for brands, learning their messaging inside-out and combining it with deep dive market research to craft proposals that were compelling and suited to our clients, while also outperforming KPIs.

  • I  grew the studio, both recruiting and managing branded content editors, special project editors, podcast producers and branded video editors. 

  • Under my direction, OZY’s branded content studio won two awards for its branded content, and was nominated for its first Webby (also for branded content). 

  • I regularly presented OZY’s ideas in-person with both clients and agencies.

  • I worked with our brand partners to create an editorial calendar of stories that boosted their messaging and brand objectives. 

  • I oversaw a team of writers in CNN’s digital features department. Day-to-day tasks included commissioning and editing stories from freelancers, and promoting those stories on CNN’s homepage and social media channels.

  • I liaised with CNN’s design, video, dev and social departments to create innovative approaches to storytelling.

  • I wrote business, news, lifestyle, travel and technology features across a variety of channels on Specialty areas include the Middle East, Africa and travel.

  • I managed the digital and social content for several of CNN International’s sponsored TV shows. Projects included Inside Africa, African Voices, Business Traveller and Inside the Middle East. In 2014, my content surpassed the annual traffic target by 25% (garnering over 1m page views/week) and unique PV target by 13%.

  • I managed and grew the social media account for CNN’s Africa-related features content, seeing followers increase by 40%. 

  • I used a combination of online and internal tools, such as CMS, Omniture, Chartbeat, Storify and Scribblelive, I created compelling, SEO-savvy headlines, galleries and interactives to engage the online reader. 

  • I implemented promotional strategies using a variety of social media tools, including Instagram, Twitter and Facebook.

  • Styled fashion shoots in the studio, commissioned photographers, and conducted photo research using iStock and Getty Images.

  • Wrote all style- and beauty-related features and cover stories.

  • Managed Time Out’s foodie Twitter account, @DineinDubai, tweeting several times a day. 

  • Uploaded copy and photos online using CMS, and monitored user comments. 

  • Directed and edited video for using Final Cut Pro, including cooking demos and interviews with celebrity chefs.
